CUDA Binary Utilities

CUDA Binary Utilities inspect compiled device-code artifacts. cuobjdump can extract or display device information embedded in executables; nvdisasm disassembles supported cubins.

How it works

They let an engineer connect a build to its target images, native instructions and resource use. This is valuable when source code looks unchanged but the executed artifact or compiler output has changed.

Work through an example

Before comparing a slow build with a fast build, verify that both actually contain code for the intended device. Then inspect register counts and instruction differences that could explain the measurement.

Where the term can mislead

Disassembly is static evidence. It cannot tell you which branch or memory pattern a production input exercised without additional runtime evidence.

Connect the idea

Take it into practice

Continue with the existing concept, apply it to an interview problem, or follow a course lesson. Access requirements are shown before you open a page.

New to GPUs? Start with the free execution-model concept.

Sources and scope

Examples here are teaching calculations, not measured GPU performance. Consult the linked documentation for the exact device, instruction and tool version. Source review: 25 October 2026.
